The Project Space presents its monthly art exhibition… This month APRIL brings the solo work of Apollo Bay Local/ International nomad Tiphaine de Fleurette Hunter-Brown with her exhibition “GESTURES”.
Tiphaine de Fleurette Hunter-Brown ex-army brat, Belizean Kriol/ Maya Born in Belize C.A. is the creative director of The Project Space, a creative arts facility in Apollo Bay, Creative Director of Floreo Creative Web + Design and co-director of Videokills, a video and performance art-based collaborative network and festival. Her previous life featured both multimedia solo and group exhibitions in Berlin and London consisting of both oil portraiture, text graphics and video installations focusing on the topic of Sex, Love and Desire.
This new exhibition, her first in 12 years, continues to focus on the concept of sex and love with the self, a throwback to childhood games of drawing body parts to ward off boredom and loneliness in a landscape of poverty, displacement and language barriers. Over the last 2 years this habit has raised itself again as a mental health release this time facing loneliness, frustration, self criticism, ageing, boredom and anxiety with the hope of rediscovery of “Self Love” and finding my forgotten feminity, meeting and acknowledging all the parts that make us who we are, whether we like them or not.
The works consist of Handrawn large-format original drawings of hand & body gestures printed on german etching paper and finished with unique gold leaf design (limited edition prints) and will be part of the Colac Otway Shire Arts Trail 2nd -18th April. The works will be on display during work hours for the month of April at the project Space and 1 special work at the apollo bay art show.
Limited Edition Hand Embellished Prints will be available to purchase from the exhibition and from the FLOREO CREATIVE PRINT SHOP from April 1st @ 6pm
